• Student Iris Kauffeld wins trip to the Annual Conference

  • Benelux Roundtable joins Student Assistant Program on the Annual Conference in San Diego, September 25 -30 2015

The opportunity to win a trip to the Supply Chain’s Premier Event, joining thousands of supply chain professionals to learn from industry experts, hear dynamic speakers, and network with the most influential supply chain leaders in the world, was something which caught Iris Kauffeld’s attention. As part of her thesis assignment  for the department Industrial Engineering and Management (track Production Technology and Logistics) of the University of Groningen, she and 3 other students entered a competition for one ticket to San Diego, all expenses paid.

  • In San Diego, Iris will join the Student Assistant Program where she will support the organization and operations of the conference as well as connect with peers around the globe, attend educational sessions to learn from seasoned professionals and participate in event like the CSCMP Student Recruitment Day and CSCMP’s 2015 Global Student Challenge.

  • Iris Kauffeld has won this fully paid trip by writing the highest awarded thesis. She has written her thesis for a SME wood frame manufacturer Doornenbal. She chose to look into the procurement and effective stock levels of raw materials for this company and came up with several scenarios to reduce cost by finding and using the correct inventory model. In a time span of just over 10 weeks she managed to get a good picture of the speculative trade market of raw wood with (PE)FSC and non (PE)FSC wood, paint and ironware, a look at useful inventory models and calculate different scenarios per product group and create a fact based advise per product group how to handle inventory and procurement.

As this is the first time for the Benelux Roundtable to participate in the Student Assistant Program, the program will be evaluated after the Conference. Going forward the intention is to continue the participation in the coming Annual Conferences. This will enable Benelux students to expand their scope and networks, as well as to participate in the CSCMP Annual Conference.

  • Iris' price is sponsored by BeSCOPE, an innovative Consultancy Firm specialized in supply chain optimization with an end-to-end supply chain scope. CSCMP Benelux thanks BeSCOPE for their support and commitment to develop young supply chain professionals.
